As part of our three day weekend plans for family fun, friends and I decide to venture outside of the comfort of our coastal living by going on a family hike at Kenneth Hahn State Recreation Area.
We didn’t anticipate that our California winter temperature would become a balmy (no, scorching) 89 degrees that day. Where is the supposed El Nino weather? What gives with this unusually warm day in the middle of our supposed February winter?
Ill-prepared for the unusually warm temperatures, we shortened our walk around the park and repurposed the visit into a family picnic gathering at the venue’s Japanese Garden. Sitting underneath nearby shade, we were finally able to enjoy what the park offered: time away from the hustle and bustle of daily life to instead take pleasure in spending time with family and friends.
