Pumpkinpalooza at Zoomar’s Petting Zoo in San Juan Capistrano, California is an annual pumpkin patch event which takes place from October 1st through October 31st. Visitors get a chance to select pumpkins of all shapes, colors and sizes. As luck would have it, I purchased a $25 Groupon, which included four petting zoo admissions, two baskets full of vegetables for the little ones to feed the petting zoo animals, and two decent sized pumpkins to take home.
The venue houses very cute petting zoos where guinea pigs and bunny rabbits are in abundance, as well as farm animals in farm stalls ready and eagerly awaiting for a nibble of carrots and lettuce.
There were ample ponies for the little ones to partake in the obligatory pony rides around the north side of the property.
We participated in visiting the animal stables while waiting for the pony ride for one of our little ones to end.
The Miner’s Gulch section of the property, where visitors panned like the way the old California Gold Rush prospectors used to sift sand with a screened panning tray to reveal beautiful treasures such as shark’s teeth, arrowheads, dinosaur bones, emeralds, rubies and crystals, was the hands-down favorite activity for our older child.
A giant wooden jungle gym/playground was on the premises for the kids to enjoy. My kids decided to play in the “corn box” and “hay maze” instead.
Train ride, anyone?
What an enjoyable day trip outside the City limits! Smiles for all 🙂
